Stavia Score works in continuous pitch before it commits. It reads what you already wrote. The phrase is tried at several heights and several rhythms against the harmony in the session, and the versions that fit the bar you asked for are the ones it keeps.

One version wins, and the field collapses onto five lines. Pitch, duration, voice and stem direction are settled together. Bravura draws it. The bar follows the engraving rules a publisher applies, so what sits on screen is what comes out of the printer.

That same note carries a start, a length and a velocity. Drag the notehead up a third and the event moves with it. Open the key editor and shorten the event, and the notehead redraws. Nothing is exported between the two views.
